摘要
gaskets have been used extensively to improve the reliability in coaxial connectors. However, the effects of the gasket design on passive intermodulation (PIM) distortion is unclear. In this paper, we will analyze the underlying physical mechanisms of the gasket design impacts on the PIM distortion. The parameters design on dimension and plating of the gasket ring are further discussed from a viewpoint of low PIM distortion. The experiments are conducted, demonstrating that although the gasket design can decrease the PIM level by up to 10 dBm, it is easily prone to plastic deformation in the conditions of requiring frequent disconnections and reconnections. This conclusion will facilitate the improvements of designing low PIM connectors.
