Experimental analysis of longitudinal vortex dynamics

The present paper deals with the vortex wandering of the streamwise vortex past a delta wing. The delta wing is designed to mimic the vortex past an engine nacelle strake. The vortex is investigated by means of a time-resolved Stereo-PIV. Two modal decomposition techniques, namely POD and DMD, are employed to analyze coherent structures in the vortex motion. The results indicate the presence of two dominant flow structures with frequencies at roughly 60 and 1000 Hz. Spatial appearance of the observed modes resembles results found in literature.
