Anatomic and MRI Bases for Pontine Infarctions with Patients Presentation

•Knowledge of the pontine vasculature is essential for understanding the neurological signs following ischemia.•There are certain anatomic variants regarding the origin, diameter, and branching patterns of the pontine arteries.•Consequently, the corresponding variability of the main vascular territories occasionally appears, and also of the supplying of some pontine structures.•Paramedian, anterolateral, lateral, and posterior infarctions were distinguished, including their combinations, which are usually associated with different neurologic signs.
