Effect of Physiotherapeutic Interventions on Biomarkers of Neuropathic Pain: A Systematic Review of Preclinical Literature

•Physiotherapy can modulate biomarkers of neuropathic pain in different areas of the nervous system.•Exercise and electro-acupuncture have most evidence for neuropathic pain biomarker modulation.•Physiotherapy may influence the neuro-immune system by downregulating pronociceptive biomarkers.•However, high risk of bias and heterogeneity in most studies prevent firm conclusions.
