Fertility preservation in male cancer patients: A mixed methods assessment of experiences and needs

•Participants rated the importance of FP counseling as high.•FP counseling was experienced as supportive and uncomplicated.•a well-organized, individual approach improved the subjective patient experience.•There was a high interest in additional support in the term of a support tool.•Low-threshold support about FP and general reproductive health would be appreciated.
