Purpose: Superficial brachytherapy is an accepted method to treat skin cancers. Although there are a variety of commercially available applicators of various sizes, large tumors or those located on curved or irregular surfaces require the use of custom-built applicators to achieve acceptable dose distributions. Here we present a case report of an 88 yo male with recurrent basal cell carcinoma of the left scalp. He had undergone definitive external beam radiation therapy three years prior, with recurrence adjacent to the irradiated field.
