Understanding the Demographic Limitations of National Datasets in the Evaluation of Outcomes in Infrainguinal Occlusive Disease

National quality improvement registries such as the Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) have emerged as essential tools for evaluating disparities in surgical outcomes. However, it remains unclear whether these voluntary registries are concordant with national demographics. Therefore, we compared the demographic characteristics of the patients who had undergone infrainguinal revascularization for symptomatic peripheral arterial disease in the VQI with those from a national administrative database and another quality improvement registry.
