摘要
Despite the marked decline in cardiovascular disease burden in Canada, Indigenous Canadians continue to experience higher rates of cardiovascular-related morbidity and mortality. In accordance with the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada's Calls to Action,1 and in close collaboration with Indigenous communities, Canadian health care systems must develop effective strategies to combat inequities in Indigenous cardiovascular outcomes and care. We identify upstream factors contributing to the current state of Indigenous cardiovascullar health; suggest culturally responsive approaches to engage Indigenous patients and communities; and propose strategies to enhance collaborative, culturally safe research and health care access in Indigenous communities in Canada.
