Threats in Critical Infrastructures

This chapter focuses in defining the term critical infrastructure and specifying the sectors and domain of CIIs. Cybersecurity is of vital importance, especially in the context of Critical infrastructure as cyber-attacks could potentially disrupt communications, access to control systems, military and have catastrophic effects in the governments and the well-being of the citizens. As technology advances, the cyber warfare is right on the horizon; thus, a number of nations are in the process of pursuing defense weapons. Throughout this chapter, we addressed these issues first by analyzing the attack incidents to Critical infrastructures in recent years, then we provide an overview of the type of attacks and threats along with the mitigation techniques.
