Synthesis of hydroindoles via desymmetric [3+2] cycloadditions of para-quinamines with photogenerated ketenes

The first photoinduced, DBU-catalyzed desymmetric [3+2] cycloaddition of para-quinamines and α-diazaketones was described, enabling the synthesis of a variety of hydroindoles in high efficiency and selectivity under green and mild conditions.
