Recent research and issues

In this chapter, multifunctionality and biomedical applications are specially considered. Multifunctionality can afford to develop autonomous electronic devices and off-grid energy storage systems based on available and renewable energies. Biomedical microsupercapacitors offer long cyclability and operational stability. Yet, both features can be combined into one device opening the route for developing novel continuous power for advanced sustainable electronics as well as medical examination systems for sensing and actuating purposes.
