摘要
Neuroinflammation is a hallmark of several neurodegenerative diseases including multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's, and Parkinson's disease. Recent evidence shows that chronic activation of the immune system could be used to pinpoint the onset and progression of these diseases in concomitant analysis with disease-specific signatures. Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF alpha) a pleiotropic proinflammatory cytokine with distinct functions in homeostasis and disease pathogenesis, has been recognized as a potential biomarker for several neurological disorders. In the context of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration, here we describe a method for quantitative detection of TNF alpha, in clinically relevant body fluids, based on an ultrasensitive impedimetric system.
