Training and development is one of the major mechanisms of HRD. Training has gained greater significance in the present day environment where jobs are complex and change rapidly. Training is a learning experience designed to achieve a relatively permanent change in an individual that will improve the ability to perform on the job. Employee development, on the other hand, is a future- oriented training process, forming the personal growth of the employee. Training and development activity is regarded as a continuous effort by many. Training becomes a continuous activity in the era of changes. The rapid changes in business environment, changing technologies , changing customer needs, increasing costs of business operation call for continuous efforts. To find innovative methods of production, cost effective technologies, sources of raw materials , new markets, methods of distribution and so on, will call for continuous need for fast adapting to changes. Training is considered as one of the most powerful means to overcome the challenges of change successfully.
