Rapid Solution of the Lightning Electromagnetic Fields Based on Matrix Pencil Method and Segmented Sampling

The solution of the lightning electromagnetic fields (LEMF) involves a complex and time-consuming integration process, which is very unfavorable for the further analysis such as the research of field-to-line coupling problem. Therefore, the rapid computation of LEMF is a very important and ongoing problem. In this paper, the fast calculation of the lightning electromagnetic fields is achieved by the proposed method combining matrix pencil method (MPM) and segmented sampling technique. First, the segmented sampling is carried out for the frequency spectrum of the lightning pulse, and the values of the electromagnetic fields at the corresponding frequency are calculated. Then, the values at all frequencies are obtained by using the MPM fit the sampled values. Finally, two examples are adopted to verify the correctness and efficiency of the proposed method.
