摘要
In vitro susceptibility and time-kill assays are performed to determine the pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of anti-infective agents. Also, drug release time and its kinetic profiles of a newly developed pharmaceutical dosage form are important parameters affecting pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic properties of drugs. These analysis results should be taken into consideration when developing pharmaceutical dosage forms containing anti-infective drugs. Today, one of the biggest problems encountered in the clinic is the resistance developed by microorganisms against anti-infective agents. Drug delivery systems are developed to eliminate this situation, to reduce the amount and side effects of conventional drugs, and to increase their bioavailability. Another strategy is to develop plant or animal origin natural anti-infective agents. In this article, a literature summary is prepared by addressing the effects of in vitro drug release, susceptibility, time-kill assays on anti-infective drug development.
