Public personnel management is one of the key pillars of public administration and effective personnel policies and practices play a key role in achieving gender parity in the workplace. The main purpose of this chapter is to review and describe the most contemporary scholarship on gender and public personnel administration, particularly peer-reviewed research published between the years 2008-2019. The corpus of research analyzed in this chapter is drawn from international journals and provides an overview of efforts across the globe to achieve gender parity and equity in the workplace. Various themes that emerged from this research could be encapsulated into four categories of inclusivity, incentives, career advancement and hazards. The insights gained from a bird's eye view of this body of work help inform future pathways for research.
