The beauty of being complex: Prussian blue analogues as selective catalysts and photocatalysts in the degradation of ciprofloxacin

•Prussian blue analogues are used as catalysts for the degradation of ciprofloxacin.•All the analogues are active under both dark and solar simulated light conditions.•All the analogues are selective catalysts producing only one reaction product.•All the analogues show intra-metal charge exchange.•All the analogues show an increase in their unit cell size upon irradiation.
