Extended Resections for Lung Cancer

Multiple advances in surgical technique, anesthesia, perfusion, medical oncology, and critical care over the past few decades have allowed thoracic surgeons to push the boundaries of R0 resection for advanced lung cancers. Many of these advanced operations can be done by teams in experienced centers with acceptable morbidity and mortality and improved mid- and long-term survival when compared with palliative chemoradiation.
