Increased sedentary time and decreased physical activity increases lipoprotein associated phospholipase A2 in obese individuals

•Lp-PLA2 was positively associated with the average number of sedentary minutes per day.•Lp-PLA2 was negatively associated with the average number of light intensity physical activity minutes per day.•In those with higher Lp-PLA2, a lower overall physical activity profile was reported.•Sedentary time, independent of physical activity, is an important factor in Lp-PLA2 mass in obese individuals.
