Calculation of Parallel Branch Currents of Synchronous Condenser with Stator Inter-Turn Fault

With the development of power transmission system, the new synchronous condenser with large capacity has become the optimal choice to meet the dynamic reactive power demand of the system, and has gradually become one of the research hotspots. In this paper, the parallel branch currents of synchronous condenser with stator inter-turn fault are calculated. Firstly, the mathematical models of synchronous condenser with stator inter-turn fault are derived. Then the relationship of different branches is deduced based on the symmetry of winding distribution. Combining the relationship of branch current and phase current, the current in each branch are calculated. The calculation of branch current can reduce the branch current sensor and is helpful to explore the motor internal situation after failure. Finally, the calculation of branch current in this paper has been validated by simulated results.
