Intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy: early presentation and relationship with infection by the hepatitis c virus. Case reports

In this paper we review the cases of three patients diagnosed with early-onset intrahepatic cholestasis of pregnancy. In two of them the diagnosis was related to infection by hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is of great importance to acknowledge that this disease can occur early in pregnancy and that its relationship with HCV infection is a key point for a prompt diagnosis, allowing taking timely appropriate therapeutic decisions, aimed at improving the fetal prognosis.
