Distributed detection of sparse signals with censoring sensors in clustered sensor networks

•We obtain a novel detector to detect sparse signals with clustered sensor networks.•Local censoring rules are designed to produce more valuable data.•Data fusion algorithm is derived via locally most powerful test.•The proposed detector requires much lower communication rates than the benchmark.
