Acquired hypofibrinogenemia in obstetric hemorrhage

Obstetric hemorrhage contributes significantly to maternal morbidity and mortality, and is a leading cause of intensive care unit (ICU) admission and pregnancy-related deaths worldwide [1–3]. The majority of maternal deaths from obstetric hemorrhage are preventable, therefore, early identification and risk stratification of parturients likely to progress to severe hemorrhage could reduce morbidity and mortality by allowing for earlier interventions.
