Maturity evolution of Permian source rocks in the Sichuan Basin, southwestern China: The role of the Emeishan mantle plume

•Except for the areas with magma intrusion, the Emeishan mantle plume has no impact on the Permian source rocks' maturity evolution.•Maturity evolution of Permian source rocks was mainly controlled by Mesozoic sedimentation and uplift.•There are three maturity evolutionary patterns: Middle Permian maturing abrupt jump, Mesozoic continuous heating and Middle-Late Triassic heating cessation.
