The main objective of the work presented is to provide a method to design the protection of pultruded elements in case of fire. The method is based on the development of tables similar to those already available for steel structures. Using this table the designer will be able to calculate the protection to be given to each type of pultruded profile section based on its thickness and thermal conductivity. As a result it will be possible to obtain the specific over-dimensioning coefficient. For the development of these tables, the maximum temperature restriction for class 4 sections has been applied, which is made in steel, but modified for pultruded sections based on the work carried out to date. For this purpose, Eurocode 3 part 1-2 has been used to obtain the temperature in the section of each pultruded profile. Different properties of the pultruded material have been derived from experimental data carried out by other authors. Additionally, the mechanical properties and ultimate resistances of these profiles at different temperatures have also been obtained from previous literature.
