Development of chromatographic process for the dynamic separation of 90Sr from high level liquid waste through breakthrough curve simulation and thermal analysis

•Numerical simulation on adsorption dynamics and temperature field was performed for scale-up column.•The heat values per unit adsorbent volume was calculated to be 2292.877 W/m3.•A preliminary design was developed for Sr(II) adsorption processing.
