Weak signals management in occupational safety and health: A Delphi study

•A clear definition of weak signals within occupational environments.•On-time and systematic weak signals management minimizes the consequences of occupational accidents, major industrial disasters and other unwanted incidents at workplace.•Inclusion of weak signals management in OSH legislation, training and Heinrich’s Pyramid, could simplify and stimulate weak signals’ introduction in the OSH domain.•Weak signals management integration into existing traditional OHSMS, could become easier and more acceptable through the Plan-Do-Check-Act Cycle.
