Effect of TaC addition on microstructure and microhardness of additively manufactured tungsten

摘要
•Compared with LPBF pure W, cracks were significantly reduced in the W5TaC system.•Two crystal structures of W2C phases are generated by the LPBF in-situ reaction.•Cellular structures with various morphologies are observed in LPBFed W5TaC system.•Nearly 4 wt% Ta as substitutions dissolves into W matrix during LPBF process of W5TaC.•Higher hardness and lower elastic modulus of W5TaC are acquired compared with W.
