Experimental assessment of lanceolate projectile point and haft robustness

•This study reports a controlled ballistic experiment using stone lanceolate points.•We analyze the amount of point breakage after impact damage to the point or haft.•We model breakage using a Bayesian zero-inflated negative binomial regression model.•Point thickness, length, and shape effect the amount of breakage after impact.•Haft damage is inversely correlated with point breakage.
