Crystal Structure of Binuclear Terephthalato-bridged Manganese(III) Complex with 2-(2 '-Hydroxyphenyl)oxazoline Analog

The title compound, [Mn-2(Lox)(4)(H2O)(2)(mu-tpa)]center dot 2CH(3)OH center dot 4H(2)O, [HLox = 4,6-dimethyl-3-(4,4-dimethyl-2-oxazolinyl)-N(2-hydroxy-l,l-dimethylethyl)salicylamide, H(2)tpa = terephthalic acid], was synthesized and characterized by single-crystal X-ray analysis. The compound crystallizes in the triclinic space group P (1) over bar with cell parameters a = 11.964(7)angstrom, b = 13.419(11)angstrom, c = 15.167(13)angstrom, alpha = 82.91(7)degrees, beta = 89.49(6)degrees, gamma = 70.79(5)degrees, V = 2280(3)angstrom(3), D-calcd = 1.296 g/cm(3), Z = 1. The R1 [I > 2 sigma(I)] and wR2 (all data) values are 0.0514 and 0.1800, respectively, for all 8015 independent reflections. Two manganese(III) units are bridged by terephthalate dianion with a monoatomic coordination mode.
