摘要

•Image potential state (IPS) is modified by scattering of electron at molecular islands.•The inside of the parabolic dispersion curve of IPS is filled by the electron scattering.•Energy/momentum map reveals the uncertainty of electron momentum after scattering.•IPS feature is an indicator of inhomogeneous nano-scale superstructures.
