Acetone-sensing properties of ZnO–noble-metals composite nano-structures and their improvement by light irradiation

摘要
•High porosity composite structures consisting of ZnO and noble metal were produced.•Composite samples were used as a sensor element activated by UV light.•The highest response to acetone exposure exhibits the PdAg-ZnO sensor element.•Bimetallic PdAg NPs act as catalytic particles as Ag promoting the Pd activity.•Additional red-light irradiation of the sensor surface changes the sensor response.
