•The dynamic compression properties of 3D-printing concrete materials were studied for the first time.•The failure process and failure mode of 3DP-UHPFRC were explored.•The anisotropy of strain rate effect of 3DP-UHPFRC was analyzed.•The strain rate sensitivity of dynamic compressive strength of 3DP-UHPFRC was evaluated.•The energy absorption characteristics of 3DP-UHPFRC were obtained.
