Boiling heat transfer on the micro-nano structured surface fabricated by mechanical sandblasting/alkali-assisted oxidation

•The micro-nano structured surface based on mechanical sandblasting has been fabricated.•Through quantitative analysis, the surface area ratio of MNS is 2.8 times that of PCS.•The micro-nano structured surface showed excellent boiling heat transfer performance.•The MNS has more evaporation cores, smaller bubble detachment diameter and higher detachment frequency.
