In-situ stirring assisted hydrothermal synthesis of Bi2S3 nanowires on BiVO4 nanostructures for improving photocatalytic performances

•BiVO4/Bi2S3 heterojunction was synthesized via in-situ stirring assisted hydrothermal method.•The photocatalytic degradation of RhB by the stirred sample was 1.7 times than unstirred one.•The Bi2S3 nanowires would expose more active sites due to high aspect ratio and large surface area.
