摘要
Citrus canker is a quarantine bacterial disease, caused by Xanthomonas citri subsp. citri ( Xcc ). Preventive control strategies developed to mitigate citrus canker include the production of resistant transgenic trees. As citrus transformation protocol takes a long time to produce transgenic lines, the coding sequence (CDS) of CsEDS5 gene was isolated from Citrus sinensis , cloned and transformed into Micro-Tom tomato (MT) plants to investigate its role in the resistance of transgenic plants by the inoculation of X. vesicatoria ( Xv ). We also functionally characterized the CsEDS5 gene and reported that several EDS5 MT transformed events were more resistant to Xv .
