•The computational accuracy and efficiency of four pressure-velocity decoupling algorithms are evaluated.•The fractional-step method significantly reduces the computational cost while maintaining satisfactory accuracy.•The fast flow dynamics method can reduce computational cost significantly and is more suitable for large-scale simulations.•The time-periodic air supply can provide periodic disturbance to eliminate stagnation zones.
