Synthesis of Thiourea and Sulfonylurea Derivatives of Chalcones and Flavones and their Biological Evaluation

Chalcone and flavone derivatives based on thiourea and sulfonylurea (6, 7a and 7b, 13a and 13b) were synthesized and confirmed by spectral data. All the target compounds were evaluated for in vivo antihyperglycemic activity in sucrose loaded model (SLM) and compounds 6, 7a and 7b for antidyslipidemic activity in the triton model . Among the synthesized compounds, the sulfonylurea derivative of chalcone (6) showed the best antidyslipidemic activity by lowering the total cholesterol, phospholipids, and triglycerides by 18%, 45%, and 33%, respectively. The activity profile of the synthesized compounds provides future direction in designing the new compounds.
