摘要

•Organic-rich chalky marls within the Mid Eocene Wadi Shallala Formation have TOC content up to 6.53 wt.%.•The Wadi Shallala organic-rich chalky marls contain mainly Types I and II kerogen with high organic S content.•The chalky marls can generate mainly sulfur-rich oil at the early stages of the kerogen cracking.
