Properties of Solutions and Composite Films of Chitosan and Carboxymethyl Chitosan with Montmorillonite Nanoparticles Obtained from Aqueous Solutions

The rheological properties of aqueous solutions of chitosan and carboxymethyl chitosan with additions of montmorillonite nanoparticles are studied. The structural organization and thermal stability of composite films are investigated by X-ray structural analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and FTIR spectroscopy. Montmorillonite nanoparticles in the films are in an exfoliated state. Analysis of the FTIR spectra of composite films demonstrates differences in the interaction of polysaccharide macromolecules with functional groups on the surface of nanoplates. The introduction of nanoparticles into matrices of the two polysaccharides does not lead to a significant change in the thermal stability of the obtained films.
