A multi-disciplinary approach on treatment adherence and blood pressure control in patients with uncontrolled hypertension

Hypertension is a modifiable cardiovascular risk factor that affects 30% of adult Malaysians. Nationwide survey reported that despite 90% of patients are treated for hypertension, only 45% are adequately controlled. Medication nonadherence is a major determinant that affects the success of pharmacotherapy in the management of hypertension and subsequently the prognosis in hypertensive patients.
