•A series of CsPbX3/P-Y2O3 (X=Cl, Br, I) composites were synthesized.•General stability improvement was observed after PQDs encapsulation in P-Y2O3.•CsPbBrI2/P-Y2O3 was selected to explicate the potential for WLED application.
