Ballistic performance of hybrid structure with perforated panel

•A novel ceramic-metal hybrid structure with perforated panel is experimentally and numerically researched.•Parametric studies on the hybrid structure with perforated panel are conducted for the optimal design of hybrid structure.•Experiments and simulations illustrate feasibility and validity of perforated panel in deflecting projectile trajectory and improving structure performance.
