Body perception distortions correlate with neuropathic features in Italian fibromyalgic patients: Findings from a self-administered online survey

•Distortions of the body were perceived by nearly two-thirds of patients with fibromyalgia.•Body parts are more commonly perceived as “heavy”, “constricted” or “swollen”.•Neuropathic symptoms moderately correlated with body distortions.•Small-fiber pathology symptoms strongly correlated with body distortions.
