•Deep vein thrombosis is a life-threatening condition requiring prompt diagnosis and treatment.•DVT, if not managed timely can lead to complications like pulmonary embolism.•Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) can help detect DVT timely.•Use of POCUS can prove valuable in resource limited setting where sophisticated tools to diagnose conditions such as DVT are unavailable.
