Allergen specific immunotherapy with plasmid DNA encoding OVA-immunodominant T cell epitope fused to Tregitope in a murine model of allergy

•Tregitope can be used as a factor in regulating and unifying the immune response to the immunodominant allergen-derived T-cell epitope in the peptide immunotherapy.•Gene-based immunotherapy using Tregitope and immunodominant allergen-derived T-cell epitope can be a new method in the treatment of allergic diseases.•Immunotherapy using Tregitope and immunodominant T-cell epitope leads to the induction of a tollergenic response and possibly the development of allergen-specific regulatory T cells.
