Geometrical characterization of active contraction pulses in epithelial cells using the vertex model

Apical constriction is one of the most relevant mechanisms at the cellular level that promotes tissue remodeling, being essential for developmental contexts. Several models have been proposed to describe the dynamics of epithelial tissues under apical constriction pulses, which differ in where the constriction is applied, either at the perimeter or medial regions. To help discriminate between these models, we use the two-dimensional vertex model for epithelial dynamics to analyze the local geometrical impact of where the constriction is applied.
