In stressed conditions, dendrin relocates from the cytoplasm into the nucleus of podocytes. This pattern was observed in numerous human glomerular diseases such as IgA nephropathy, lupus nephritis, and focal segmental glomerulosclerosis (FSGS). However, the role of two distinct subcellular localization of dendrin and its regulatory mechanism are still unknown. This study explores the possibility of whether targeting dendrin's subcellular localization could be a strategy to treat podocyte injury and glomerular diseases.
