A Vasculature Anatomy Inspired Flexible Slot Antenna for Continuous Non-invasive Glucose Monitoring

In this study, we introduce a vasculature-anatomy-inspired sensor for non-invasive continuous glucose monitoring. The sensor is based on a flexible slot-antenna that can be integrated inside a wearable glove, and enables sufficient penetration of the radiated electromagnetic waves in order to wirelessly monitor blood glucose variations. Serum-based experiments demonstrate high fidelity across the diabetic glucose range [10mg/dl – 500mg/dl]. Furthermore, human studies exhibit clinical accuracy of 98%, between the reference glucose levels and the sensor's output, in twenty-one subjects who underwent a total of sixty-three oral glucose tolerance tests.
