摘要
Background: Local recurrence after mastectomy is significantly based in biology and other features, including margin status. Patients with positive margins after nipple (NSM) or skin paring mastectomy (SSM) have an increased risk of local and/or distant recurrence. Identifying this positive superficial margin postoperatively can be challenging. Intraoperative ultrasound (IOUS) has been found to be an effective tool to evaluate margins intraoperatively in breast conserving surgery. The aim of this study is to evaluate the feasibility of IOUS in assessing superficial margins in NSM and SSM and its correlation with pathology.
